Conversations on Liberal Education is planned as an informal faculty symposium in which we can refine our vision of the college's mission and work out practical ways that we can advance it. Each session will have readings or a brief presentation to kick off the discussion.
During Spring 2010, we've scheduled two meetings:
If you are thinking of attending, please email
Cary.G.Gray
at wheaton.edu
so
that we have some idea of how many participants to expect. Please also
email if you are interested in participating but cannot attend at either
of the scheduled times.
You can find my summary from Fall 2009 on the wiki. Feel free to add your thoughts there (but note the caution on wiki editing).

A faculty wiki is operational, at least on a provisional basis. All of its material is currently accessible only after you log in, and any faculty/staff member should be able to log in. Give it a try; click the "Login" link at the top, and log in with your campus userid and password. There isn't much there yet, but feel free to contribute. (Accessible only from the campus network).
Note: the GUI editor may not work--you'll find out when you try to preview or save a page. If you try the GUI editor, hit the preview button before you invest much efforr. If it works for you, great. (Let me know, including what browser and operating system you were using!) If it doesn't, you'll have to use the plain text editor and learn some wiki formatting rules.
A longer list of readings is available on the wiki. (Campus only, login required.)
Access to some readings and notes may be restricted to on-campus. Additional suggestions would be welcome.
We could use volunteers for presenters and suggestions for readings. We will also need a volunteer to summarize each day's discussion.
