Right away we need to cover the portions of Sedgewick that are mostly review, as found in Sections 1.(1-3). This is a fair amount of material. To help you allocate your time well, please note below what parts to read carefully and what to skim:
Skim does not mean skip. You need to spend some time with the "skim" portions, especially to determine if there are some parts that you need to read more carefully for review---use your own judgment in that, but be aware that you are expected to know most of that material and be able to use it.
Email me a summary in which you identify one thing you learned from this ("I didn't realized you could do...", "I never had understood....") and one thing you thought was wrong in the book, or at least the book had the wrong emphasis or was unclear.
(I think there are quite a few things that are wrong or miss the point or are stated strangely.)
Complete this by class time on Friday.
